I admit that I don't have photoshop and am not a very big fan of it. One of the reasons I'm using textart from a Microsoft Publisher or Access program is because I want to at least get some effects in my comic, even if they aren't flashy or non-pixely.
Now, I don't want you to think I'm being snippy for slapping this newspost after my textart got critizied multiple times because of these reasons:
Text no one can read:
Publisher has a variety of texts I can use to play around with. But pasting them on paint causes them to become so blocky, it's hard for people to understand what I write. In the old updates on Drunk Duck, some told me they were having trouble reading it and I try to make the text look better on the next update.
Colors too bright, dark or random:
This is pretty much what got everyone's goat and is the main reason for this newspost. Colors from the preset in the textart setting are either too bright, too dark or have too many colors. I didn't realize that the effects of the fire preset in one of my strips made the text look like it had one color a line. And I'm trying my hardest to make the textart less random colory.
Another reason for using textart is if a character is going to take up half the panel by shouting one or two sentance, I don't want it to be size 20+ in bold letters behind a textbox that blocks out any other character that is behind that box, or worse, have no textbox and is in a color that has to be fixed in order for people to understand what's being shouted.
I'll explain the other reasons later on in the comic. I know you would rather have me work out my textart rather than get me to stop using them and go back to whatever text they have in paint. I just want you to know some of why I used textart at all.
