Double Update

Even though Drunk Duck will be back up soon and I'm planning on sticking Rogue Agent: Axl back on there, I still think it would have been best if I hurried the story along just so I don't bore those who are tired of the duck's hangovers.

So, I've decided to update one in the day and one at night. Hopefully, I can get the rest of the remakes done before I reach the point where there are ACTUAL BACKGROUNDS.

Textart and the lack of Photoshop effects

I admit that I don't have photoshop and am not a very big fan of it. One of the reasons I'm using textart from a Microsoft Publisher or Access program is because I want to at least get some effects in my comic, even if they aren't flashy or non-pixely.

Now, I don't want you to think I'm being snippy for slapping this newspost after my textart got critizied multiple times because of these reasons:

Text no one can read:
Publisher has a variety of texts I can use to play around with. But pasting them on paint causes them to become so blocky, it's hard for people to understand what I write. In the old updates on Drunk Duck, some told me they were having trouble reading it and I try to make the text look better on the next update.

Colors too bright, dark or random:
This is pretty much what got everyone's goat and is the main reason for this newspost. Colors from the preset in the textart setting are either too bright, too dark or have too many colors. I didn't realize that the effects of the fire preset in one of my strips made the text look like it had one color a line. And I'm trying my hardest to make the textart less random colory.

Another reason for using textart is if a character is going to take up half the panel by shouting one or two sentance, I don't want it to be size 20+ in bold letters behind a textbox that blocks out any other character that is behind that box, or worse, have no textbox and is in a color that has to be fixed in order for people to understand what's being shouted.

I'll explain the other reasons later on in the comic. I know you would rather have me work out my textart rather than get me to stop using them and go back to whatever text they have in paint. I just want you to know some of why I used textart at all.

No Permission Needed

I only had two people ask me if they can borrow my Axl sprites, but I figured it was enough to make an annoucement.

You don't need my permission to use the sprites. I don't care where they end up or how you treat them just so long as you don't claim they're yours and (depending on which sprites you borrow) give me a little credit.

Sprite Talents

I've already explained it to those who saw the fancomic on Drunk Duck or read Gen Gravy's "Life Bytes: Eternal War", but I should probably mention it to the Smack Jeeve crowd as well.

The 32-bit Axl sprite was created by me using a mixture of X and Zero sprites (I'll let you guess which parts they were used for since they are so obvious).

Go here if you want to take a look or borrow the sprites sheets presented in the thread. There is another sprite sheet that was borrowed from me, but I'll let you guess which one it is.

Banner Up

Finally got a banner up. It's not very productive since I no longer have Publisher (Due to my parents having to wipe out the hardrive to kill a virus infecting other people's computers and forcing ours to reset) and the fonts I need to make the textart unique, but at the moment, it's all that I could do. When I do get publisher back, I'll try and rework the banner.

The Devil Made Me Do It!!!

Okay, so I lied when I said I was only going to bring over Anything Goes WRONG, but I had a feeling it wasn't going to do so well mainly because it broke many rules that came from the Do's and Don'ts of sprite comicing.

Anyway, this fancomic, you'll be happy to know, has no author insertions (Though the fourth wall will be broken later in the series), and is the third fancomic created (The second one will DEFINATLY not cross over here due to Writer's Block).

Those who have already read this may not be happy about the fact that I'll be updating one strip a day. The reason is (And if I've already told you in Anything Goes WRONG, you'll already know why) I have a habit of revamping old archives. Those new to the fancomic should know that the original had no gaming background but poorly constructed walls made out of two inch lines and one toned colors. Now that I've found some better backgrounds, maybe the old comics won't suffer from hast construction.
